Student multimedia teams sought

JEA is searching for student teams to come to the convention in Boston to help create a two-minute public service announcement that addresses the question: “How does media affect the way teenagers view themselves and the world?”

mccormick-logoThe teams will be led through all aspects of producing a PSA and will join a pre-production discussion on news literacy values and how to approach the project from an informed, literate perspective. Members of each team should have demonstrated multimedia skills and will be expected to interview students at the convention and use on-site footage to produce an innovative, student-centered video that addresses this question in a creative and professional way.

Thanks to a grant from the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, each school will be provided $1,000 to help offset expenses related to attending the convention. One school must be from the Chicago area.

Advisers should apply using the form available at http://boston.journalismconvention.org/news-literacy.
